Missouri Lawyers Media recently named Humphrey, Farrington & McClain shareholder Ken McClain a Legal Champion for his tireless work conducting individual arbitrations on behalf of hundreds of employees whose retirement plans were mismanaged by their employer.
While the rest of the world shut down during the pandemic and civil jury trials ground to a halt, Ken McClain found creative solutions in order to arbitrate ERISA claims on behalf of the 550 former employees of DST Systems, Inc. he represents. Through the use of Zoom and other technologies, Ken tried arbitrations weekly for over fourteen months, only breaking occasionally for holidays. This hard work, determination, and grit are how Ken McClain has operated his trial practice for over 30 years. He is nationally known, not only for his excellence in the courtroom but also for his dedication to his community. His practice has recently crossed international borders, as he now represents multiple Canadian provinces in their lawsuit against big tobacco. 2020 and 2021 were slow years for some trial attorneys, but not Ken McClain.
The Legal Champion award is not based on the size of the verdict, but rather on the importance of the principle or policy at stake. As a winner of the Missouri Lawyers Awards, Ken will be profiled in a special section of Missouri Lawyers Weekly and will be honored at an awards ceremony in January.
HFM sincerely congratulates Ken for his award and professional achievement.
