He is licensed to practice in Missouri and admitted to practice in United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and Eastern District of Missouri. He has argued in both the Missouri and Kansas Courts of Appeals. And Jonathan has authored several appellate briefs in these courts as well as the Supreme Court of Missouri and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Jonathan has received honors for both the quality and substance of his work. He was given the Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly award for Top Plaintiff’s Verdict in both 2011 and 2013. Also in 2013, his work representing a family of a young boy in a bullycide case earned him Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly’s Legal Champion award, which recognizes the importance and principal of a lawyer’s work, he was also recognized by Missouri Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2015 and 2016.
Jonathan’s parents grew up in Independence. He is now raising his own children in the Truman Historic District, just off the Independence Square. He is proud to be one of several families with young children who recently moved to this neighborhood. His wife, Dana Soper, is an attorney with the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, Family Support Division.
