Biography

Tim Kingsbury is a Shareholder at Humphry, Farrington & McClain. Over the course of more than a decade, Tim has observed that large corporations and insurance companies often try to avoid giving victims the fair compensation they deserve. Nevertheless, he strongly believes that the legal system must hold them accountable for their actions. This conviction drives him to vigorously fight for his clients every day and tirelessly advocate on their behalf.

Tim has handled cases in more than a dozen states. He has tried cases involving products liability, catastrophic burn injuries, wrongful death, chemical exposure, car accidents, asbestos and slip and fall. Tim’s work has resulted in his clients obtaining over 100 million dollars in verdicts and settlements.

Across the United States, Tim has represented victims involved in cases concerning gas cans that explode because of a lack of a flame arrestor. These flame arrestors were placed on gas cans so that companies could save pennies per gas can. This cost cutting measure resulted in death and catastrophic burn injuries. His efforts resulted in a positive change in the industry, as all newly manufactured plastic gas cans now include flame arrestors as of 2017.

Tim’s track record has earned him widespread recognition. Since 2017, he has been acknowledged as a Rising Star by Missouri Super Lawyers. He has also achieved multiple verdicts that have appeared on Missouri’s Top Verdicts list, both as a plaintiff and a defendant. Notably, in 2016, he played a pivotal role in securing a $20.6 million jury verdict in Kirk v. FAG Bearings, and in 2018, he assisted in the retrial of a $28 million verdict in Berger v. Copeland. More recently, in 2021, Tim successfully defended the City of Grandview against a $5.6 million demand for inverse condemnation. The jury reached a defense verdict in just over an hour. Tim’s exceptional results have established him as a highly versatile trial attorney.

A native of Kansas City, Tim attended the University of Missouri. He currently lives on the historic Independence Square with and his wife and two sons, Teddy and Louis. Tim is an active member of his church congregation and spends three days a week coaching the Timberwolves youth basketball team in the Independence Youth Athletic Association.
